Painde Khan
Painde Khan, once a devoted follower of Guru Hargobind Sahib, deserted the Guru, sought service with the Mughal Governor of Lahore and brought an army to kill the Guru. Painde Khan failed in three attempts to kill the Guru during the battle, and the Guru mortally wounded him with a single blow. When Painde Khan was dying, the Guru provided shade to his face from the scorching sun with his shield and said, "Painde Khan, you are a Mussalman. Now is the time to recite your Kalma (Muslim prayer)." Painde Khan replied, "O Guru, Thy sword is my prayer and the source of my Salvation."
